COMING AROUND AGAIN

For the second time, we lined ourselves up for a raiding week – three visits – into Crystallos, the Lair of the Awakened. Armed with the experience of our first expedition, we cleared both the Fire and Earth wings splendidly on Wednesday, though a late run at the Ice Constructs proved problematical and we called it a night after one try.

YOU CAN HIDE, BUT YOU CAN'T RUN ...

However on Friday we ran through the golems flawlessly, followed through swiftly on Zeik'shi Kar and Aerius, and resumed the painful process of trying to learn and beat the Vyskudra event. Alas, tonight it was not to be.

On Sunday night it was pretty much the same story – and after three more wipeout runs it looked like this was not going to be our week to progress – though we were starting to wear the event down and get the hang of the mechanics. Still, undeterred, we applied a couple of final tweaks to the strategy, battered down the doorman, covered our heads with towels to evade the large droppings from the circling and descending drakes, and settled in to take Vyskudra for one more spin around the block.

TOLD YOU HE'D GOT SOME STONES ...

Somehow, this time everything was different, and as the big girl's hitpoints headed downwards and downwards, we could scent victory in the air (or was that the drake droppings still?) And, as swiftly, it seemed, as we had wiped the previous time, the dragon was down. Last major obstacle to Kerafyrm, and the end of the Secrets of Faydwer expansion!

BYE BYE BABY

Or so we thought, having read how much of a "gimme" the Brood Mother event was.

Well, something went a little pear-shaped the first time we tried this, and somehow everyone on the raid seemed to acquire a large number of hungry draconian friends. Still, on our second try all the teams were on top of our game, and we'd learned what needed to be done – and what do you know? "They" were right after all. Brood Mother Visiazj is indeed a "gimme" event.

BIG MAMA

Sadly, it was too late for us to pay even a learning visit to Kerafyrm, though your intrepid editor did nip along to get a quick preview picture for you. I failed: however, staff photographer Zaph captured this nifty image of the translucent one (that huddled mound of bloodied scraps under her feet is, indeed, your intrepid editor. Whoops.)

BE SEEING YA!

Next time, Kerafyrm the Awakened. Next time we visit Crystallos, you're going back to sleep. For good.
